What it means for your claim

  • Payment is deferred, but there is also a six-month rule. FTX says that if no provider can serve your jurisdiction, your distribution will be deferred to a later date. Separately, FTX says that a holder of an Allowed claim who does not onboard with a provider within six months of the July 31, 2026 distribution date may forfeit the right to receive distributions. FTX has not explained how the two rules apply when no provider is available, so keep records showing that your jurisdiction is not eligible and that you tried to onboard.
  • The claim may show as Disputed. Among the reasons for this status, FTX names a jurisdiction that is still under review or not eligible for distributions. FTX also says that some Disputed claims may later become Allowed and receive distributions.
  • An existing provider account does not change this. Provider options follow the residence information you gave FTX, and the provider makes the final decision during onboarding.

What you can do

  • Complete KYC (Step 3) and the tax form (Step 7), and watch the portal and your email for newly eligible jurisdictions.
  • If you have actually moved to another country, ask FTX to update your jurisdiction: email KYC-Support@ftx.com from the email on your FTX account and follow their instructions. You may also need to submit a new IRS Form W-8 or W-9.
  • Or sell the claim. The lack of a provider blocks the payout, not the sale. Bankruptcy Rule 3001(e) sets how a claim transfer is filed and noticed, and it does not depend on the seller's country. Each transfer is still filed with the court, validated by Kroll and followed by a 21-day objection period, and both sides go through KYC and sanctions checks. Qredax does not buy claims from sellers in Iran, North Korea, Cuba, the Crimea region or the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics in Ukraine, or from anyone on sanctions lists. For sellers in Russia and Belarus, each deal goes through a separate sanctions check. Get a free estimate.

Frequently asked questions

Which countries have no FTX payout provider?
As of October 1, 2026, FTX lists 44 jurisdictions, including China, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Morocco. The full list is above.
Is my distribution lost if my country is on the list?
Not automatically. FTX says the distribution will be deferred if no provider can serve your jurisdiction. But FTX also says that a holder of an Allowed claim who does not onboard with a provider within six months of the July 31, 2026 distribution date may forfeit distributions, and it has not published an exception for jurisdictions without a provider.
Can I use a Kraken or BitGo account I already have?
Not if your jurisdiction is on the list. Provider options follow the residence information you gave FTX, and FTX's list covers creditors resident in those jurisdictions.
Can I sell my claim if my country is on the list?
In most cases, yes. The lack of a payout provider blocks distributions, not a transfer of the claim under Bankruptcy Rule 3001(e). The sale still goes through KYC, Kroll's validation and sanctions checks. Qredax does not buy from sellers in Iran, North Korea, Cuba, the Crimea region or the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics in Ukraine, or from anyone on sanctions lists.
