Key facts
- Only holders of Allowed claims receive distributions; FTX says certain Disputed claims may later become Allowed and eligible for a distribution (Distributions Dashboard FAQs, updated September 13, 2026).
- For the July 31, 2026 distribution, the original holder had to complete KYC, submit a valid tax form, onboard (register) with a provider and pass sanctions screening by the June 16, 2026 record date (Distributions Dashboard FAQs, updated September 13, 2026).
- Original holders who do not submit the tax form within 90 days of FTX's first notice permanently forfeit the distribution for that record date (Distributions Dashboard FAQs, updated September 13, 2026).
- FTX told eligible creditors to expect funds from their provider within 1 to 3 business days from July 31, 2026 (FTX press release, July 17, 2026).
- Step 9 of the portal is not available if the claim was traded or you elected the Bahamas process (Distributions Dashboard FAQs, updated September 13, 2026).
Check that the claim was Allowed by the record date
Only holders of Allowed claims receive distributions. If your claim shows as Disputed in the FTX Customer Claims Portal (claims.ftx.com), there is no payment unless the claim later becomes Allowed. FTX gives reasons such as a proof of claim still under review, or a jurisdiction that is under review or not eligible for distributions. The original holder must also have passed KYC by the record date. For the July 31, 2026 distribution, the record date was June 16, 2026.
Check KYC and the tax form
KYC is Step 3 in the portal, and the tax form, IRS Form W-8 or W-9, is Step 7. Both had to be complete by the record date, together with sanctions screening. After each record date, FTX sends holders without a tax form two notices. If the form is not submitted within 90 days of the first notice, the distribution for that record date is forfeited permanently.
On October 21, 2026, the court disallowed and expunged the customer claims with rejected KYC listed in its order (D.I. 36747). If your KYC was rejected, check whether your claim is on that list. See also what an expunged FTX claim means.
Check provider onboarding
FTX pays through three payout providers (Distribution Service Providers, or DSPs): BitGo, Kraken and Payoneer (FTX list as of October 2026). You choose one at Step 8, which opens only after KYC and the tax form are done and if the claim is above FTX's minimum of $10. Onboarding is finished only when Step 8 shows Onboarding Complete. The email you register with the provider must match your portal email, and the choice cannot be changed after onboarding. Payoneer pays only individual distributions above $50; FTX says this threshold may be reduced. FTX says holders who do not onboard within six months of the first distribution date after their claim became Allowed permanently forfeit the distribution for that date. Separately, FTX says holders who do not onboard within six months of the July 31, 2026 distribution date may forfeit their right to distributions on the claim.
Check whether your country has a provider
As of October 1, 2026, FTX lists 44 jurisdictions that are not eligible for distributions, and creditors resident there cannot select a provider in the portal. FTX says that if no provider can serve your jurisdiction, your distribution will be deferred to a later date. The full list and what it means are in the guide to countries without a payout provider.
Check the timing and Step 9
For the July 31, 2026 distribution, FTX said eligible creditors should expect funds from their provider within 1 to 3 business days. Distribution details appear at Step 9 of the portal. Step 9 is not available if the claim was sold or if you elected the Bahamas process; FTX Digital Markets communicates its distributions separately. For a sold claim, FTX pays the buyer once the transfer is reflected on the claims register and the 21-day notice period has passed without objection.
Whom to contact
- A wrong amount, or a provider that cannot onboard you or make a payment: support@ftx.com.
- Problems inside the provider's onboarding: the provider's own support. BitGo: ftxcreditors@bitgo.com; Kraken and Payoneer: their help centers.
- A change of country of residence: KYC-Support@ftx.com, from the email address on your FTX account. If Step 7 (tax form) is locked: support@ftx.com.
FTX says it will never ask you to connect your wallets.
If the official path is blocked
If your country has no provider, or the claim cannot meet the requirements, you can wait for FTX to add providers or sell the claim. A transfer under Bankruptcy Rule 3001(e) does not depend on the seller's country; the exception is when sanctions prohibit the deal. How selling to Qredax works, step by step.
